Where Does The Money Go?

The loose change this month will go to the C.N.I.B.   We all know that vision loss is not just a physical problem, it produces all sorts of feelings, both for the person experiencing it and the close family members and friends.  Counselors are trained by the CNIB to help clients and their families move through the process of adjusting to vision loss.  Most of the CNIB clients do have some vision, a large part of the work involves helping people make the most of the remaining vision through the use of magnifiers, good lighting and contrast vision.  The loss of independence is one of the most frustrating consequences of losing their vision.  The CNIB instructors focus on safe travel and white cane skills, helping to improve your ability to move around your house, your neighbourhood and to use public transport.   Computers and Braille instruction are also available.  Vision loss can be a major part of aging.  CNIB’s Senior and Vision Loss programme helps seniors who are losing their vision learn about their eye condition, find ways to make use of their remaining sight, rebuild their skills and get in touch with peers who face similar challenges.  CNIB services are free of charge to anyone who is experiencing difficulties as a result of vision loss, or the combined loss of hearing and sight.  Volunteers are a large part of the utilities the organization, who help in many ways, which include shopping, home visits, reading and special events.  You can contact the organization for more information.  CNIB was established in 1918. The majority of funding is provided by individuals like you and I, and by service clubs, foundations and the United Way.

TODAY

Today I will delete from my diary two days: yesterday and tomorrow.  Yesterday was to learn and tomorrow will be the consequence of what I can do today.  Today I will face life with the conviction that this day will not ever return.  Today is the last opportunity I have to live intensely, as no one can assure me that I’ll see tomorrow’s sunrise.  Today I will be brave enough not to let any opportunity pass me by, my only alternative is to succeed.  Today I will invest my most valuable resource: my time, in the most transcendental work: my life.  I will spend each minute passionately to make today different and unique day in my life.  Today I will defy every obstacle that appears on my way, trusting I will succeed.  Today I will resist pessimism and will conquer the world with a smile, with the positive attitude.  Today I will have my feet on the ground understanding reality and the stars’ gaze to invent my future.  Today, I will take the time to be happy and will leave my footprints and my presence in the hearts of others.  Today, I invite you to begin a new season where we can dream that everything we undertake is possible and we fulfill it, with joy and dignityHave a good day today, don’t wait for tomorrow.
